We have put together some of the most frequently asked questions to help you. If you have any questions, please ask one of our team and they will do their best to answer your query.

What type of accommodation will my dog have?

Accommodation is of varying size according to your breed of dog or whether you have more than one dog staying with us and would like them to share. Kennels are brick-built with mesh panels, clean and bright with separate sleeping and run areas. All kennels are heated, contain Vetbed bedding, cosy duvets and toys for your dog to play with. Kennels and runs are cleaned daily to ensure a comfortable, healthy stay for your dog.

Do you provide food for the dogs and cats during their stay?

We provide premium-quality Arden Grange dried food. Wet food (tripe or meat) is also available on request at no extra cost. Alternatively, if your pet has special dietary requirements we are happy for you to provide your own pet food for their stay.

My cat is very affectionate, will it receive attention?

Yes. We understand that cats need love and attention, and within our day we will make time for your cat and its individual needs. Tell us what is important and we will make sure it gets the attention it needs.

Are the cat chalets heated?

Yes and thermostatically controlled, however their cat flaps are always open so your cat can chose whether to stay indoors or venture into their run.

Do we need to bring out own cat food?

As all cat owners know, our feline friends can be rather choosy when it comes to what they wish to be served. We feed good quality wet and dry food, however if you would prefer, or if your cat is on a medicated diet, please bring it in and we will follow your feeding protocol.

My cat doesn’t like other cats!

Our chalets are separated with a gap in between each pen, and glazed one side by opal perspex, so they are unable to see their neighbours.

Can I bring my cat’s toys and blankets in with them? 

Sure if they have a favourite piece of bedding or toy from home. Many cats make their beds from wash baskets, boxes or even the kitchen sink, so unfortunately we cannot fit those in! We do however have plenty of beds, bedding, cat toys, scratch posts and anything else they should need for a comfortable stay.

How much exercise will my dog receive?

All the dogs have access to outside areas, enclosed areas and the paddock during their day with us. If your dog is sociable they will be able to run with other similar tempered dogs in the paddock. If your dog is more sensitive it will have a quieter opportunity to enjoy the paddock.

We make sure all the dogs have as much exercise as possible and is always subject to their needs.

What are your opening times for boarding?

We ask that all boarding animals are dropped off or collected between these hours:

9.00 to 12.00, 14.00 to 16.00

We are closed between 12.00 and 14.00. Our gates will be closed and no access is possible during these times.

How early can I drop off my dog for day boarding?

We are open from 7.30am enabling you to drop off your dog before you go to work.

Does my dog or cat need to vaccinated to attend Butterstone?

Your dog and cat will need to be fully vaccinated to attend Butterstone. We will need to see their booster vaccination card as verification when you register your pet.
We require your dog to be vaccinated against kennel cough.

Do I need to bring my dogs bedding when they stay at Butterstone?

We provide clean bedding for all the dogs staying with us at Butterstone.

Why does kennel cough spread?

Kennel cough is highly contagious therefore if you think your dog may be suffering with any of the symptoms they MUST not come to Butterstone.

In areas where lots of dogs are kept and socialise together it can spread quickly. All dogs that use Butterstone have been vaccinated however this does not mean the dogs cannot catch kennel cough.

We ask you to be vigilant and help us to ensure Butterstone remains a healthy environment for all the animals.
